What’s the biggest mistake brands make on Pinterest?
The number one mistake I see is businesses posting the exact same content as they do on social media and then giving up on Pinterest because it doesn’t seem to work.
Pinterest is a search engine, powered by SEO. Social media is a social platform, powered by engagement.
They are very different beasts.
By all means re-purpose your content, but make sure your Pinterest content is optimised with your researched keywords.
P.S. I just got the ability to claim and integrate my Instagram account on Pinterest. I wouldn’t normally recommend the integration, because of the aforementioned reasons, but I’m keen to test out what impact it has now, so check in with me on this next year!
Name 3 things every business should focus on in 2024
1. Keywords (see previous answer) – not just once, but keep repeating as things change.
2. Trends and predictions – I don’t just mean the reports that Pinterest issues, although these are always highly relevant for your strategy and keywords.
It’s also important to keep up with the way that Pinterest as a platform is evolving and how it relates to other platforms.
Just as you get comfortable with your strategy, things change and you need to swing with the changes or get left behind.
3. Continuous testing and optimising.
Your strategy, whether organic or paid or both, should incorporate a cycle of test, review optimise.
It’s the best way to achieve optimum results.
What can we expect from you and your business in 2024?
I’ll be focussing on reaching more e-commerce businesses, who advertise with Meta, and helping them to increase their sales and profit with Pinterest.
I often quote the stat that 85% of weekly users go on to buy something they’ve seen on Pinterest. That’s massive!
There are too many ecommerce businesses missing out on this opportunity and I want to change that, so that will be the focus for my business in 2024.

After feeling called to be at home with her kids and leaving the teaching world, she can finally say she’s living the work at home mom life that she thought was only in her dreams.

What’s the biggest mistake brands make on Pinterest?
I believe that business owners give up on the platform before they’ve really given it a chance to work for them.
I’ve seen it, and heard it, so many times. Business owners will say, “I got started on Pinterest, and after a couple of months not much was happening, so I gave up and thought it just wouldn’t work for me”.
We live in a time where people want, and sometimes need, immediate gratification…. and Pinterest definitely doesn’t always provide that!
I think some business owners fail to realize that it’s a search engine, so when you start marketing on Pinterest, you’re thinking about the ripple effect it can continue to have for years to come.
Name 3 things every business should focus on in 2024
1. Every business needs video content. People love to consume video content, hence the popularity of TikTok and Reels, and I find that it creates a more balanced strategy on Pinterest to use both video and static images.
2. Business owners should focus on having strong funnels in place, so that when they do get traffic from a platform like Pinterest, they have a clear plan for how they’re going to turn that traffic into profit.
3. People should focus on creating content that inspires their audience.
It seems so simple, and it is, but it can be so challenging! However, if you can keep your audience inspired, it keeps them coming back for more!
What can we expect from you and your business in 2024?
I will continue to talk about what I love, Pinterest! In 2024, I’m really moving away from client work and won’t be accepting new clients, but will be educating and coaching students that are starting their Pinterest management business.
I also will still have resources and new content for business owners who are looking to learn how to market on Pinterest.

What’s the biggest mistake brands make on Pinterest?
For Pinterest Ads:
1. Not diversifying ad formats:
Relying on a single ad format, instead of experimenting with various formats (like standard, video, carousel, etc.), can limit the reach and impact of the campaign.
For Pinterest Ads:
2. Targeting too broadly or yoo narrowly: One common error is not finding the right balance in targeting.
Overly broad targeting can lead to irrelevant audience engagement, while overly narrow targeting can limit the reach and effectiveness of the campaign.
Name 3 things every business should focus on in 2024
1. Prioritize high-quality visual content. Develop stunning, engaging images and videos that reflect brand identity and appeal to the target audience.
2. Leverage data-driven targeting and personalization. Utilize advanced analytics to understand user behavior and interests, creating more relevant and effective ad campaigns.
3. Integrate E-commerce features effectively. Make use of Pinterest’s shoppable pins and rich pins to streamline the shopping experience, providing clear product information and easy purchasing options.
What can we expect from you and your business in 2024?
We want to introduce more brands to the power of Pinterest for their business, whether it’s ad campaigns or organic growth on the platform.

What’s the biggest mistake brands make on Pinterest?
Pulling the plug too quickly, frustrated by not seeing instant results. It takes time for Pinterest’s algorithm to calibrate, understand your products, and connect with your audience.
It’s a journey of discovery, where at least six months of experimenting with diverse campaigns and creative elements is essential.
This process isn’t one-size-fits-all; it’s a unique adventure for each brand.
I have found that patience and persistence always pay off on Pinterest.
Name 3 things every business should focus on in 2024
1. Sustainability and environmental responsibility are top of the list for me. We can all make adjustments in our business to reduce our carbon footprint and implement eco-friendly practices, no matter how big or small.
2. Staying up-to-date with AI trends is another major one. AI can help businesses become more efficient as long as it’s not at the expense of quality.
3. Finally, I think that businesses that focus more on personalised customer experience and service handled by real people, not bots, can truly differentiate themselves.
What can we expect from you and your business in 2024?
More of what we’ve been doing in 2023!

What’s the biggest mistake brands make on Pinterest?
Not creating Pinterest friendly images. I see so many people re-using their Instagram images which means they don’t really understand how Pinterest works.
Which is probably the second mistake — not understanding that it is search and discovery, not social media.
Name 3 things every business should focus on in 2024
Spending their money wisely, spending their time wisely, and making connections with people that are more personal then they ever have been before.
What can we expect from you and your business in 2024?

What’s the biggest mistake brands make on Pinterest?
Not looking at their keyword strategy from the beginning. Too many people think a keyword is a single word and they’re not ranking for anything.
Name 3 things every business should focus on in 2024
1. Long form content for their websites or YouTube channel.
2. Their email marketing strategy to get people nurturing and buying from them.
3. Their messaging and copy strategy for the words they put on the internet, sales pages, social media, etc.

What’s the biggest mistake brands make on Pinterest?
Brands implementing social media strategies when using Pinterest. They become impatient, fail to achieve results and quickly give up.
Pinterest is a search engine and organic growth and results takes time.
Name 3 things every business should focus on in 2024
1. Pinterest keywords
Pinterest is a search engine, just like Google.
To become visible in Google you need keywords on your website.
Use Pinterest keywords and Pinterest Trends to increase your chances of appearing in Pinterest search results.
2. Content creation and video content
Regularly create new content for your website or blog that you can use on Pinterest and social media.
You can also repurpose old content on Pinterest by creating new Pins.
Incorporate videos into your Pinterest strategy and stand out among pins with still images. Repurpose TikTok en Reels.
People love watching videos, especially on Pinterest.
3. Connect with your audience
Build strong relationships with your audience. Help people who ask questions, respond to messages in your inbox, and follow interesting Pinners.
Check your stats regularly, find out what’s trending with Pinterest Trends, and create content your audience wants to see.
By keeping track of which accounts follow me, I follow interesting accounts back. Surprisingly enough, this can lead to new projects and clients.
What can we expect from you and your business in 2024?
Introducing Pinterest to more brands and stores in the Netherlands and Belgium. I am also open to work with interesting brands outside the Benelux.
I will continue working with interior design & furniture brands and stores to grow organically with Pinterest coaching, setting up and managing clients’ Pinterest accounts.
Sharing my tips and insights on social media and connecting with business owners and marketers, is what I also love and I will continue to do so, let’s connect ;-)
